Register your license

For students, researchers and academic staff using the Academic Edition. It takes about a minute, and it is not a condition of downloading — the app works either way.

For use under supervision, in training. Any recommendation for real clinical use must be made by a licensed healthcare professional.

Why we ask. The Academic Edition is free on the basis of academic use, and some of the reference data behind it is licensed for non-commercial use only. Registering records who is using that build and under what affiliation, which is what keeping to those terms in good faith looks like — and it is how your license file is issued. More on the two editions.

A .edu address is issued a license automatically, within a minute. Any other address — a hospital, a .org, or a personal one — is reviewed by a person first, which usually takes a day or two. Either way you can download and use the application straight away; the license records who is using it and is not what makes it run.

Optional, and genuinely useful — it tells us which parts of the reference are worth deepening.

We use your name, email address and institution to check you qualify for the free academic tier and to issue and support your license; they are also written into the license file itself. We keep the record while the license is live and delete it if you ask us to. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or send you anything you did not tick the box for. Full detail, and how to get a copy or have it erased, is in the privacy policy.
